Hello World!

The Star Surround is DONE! Woo hoo! The back is just as fun as the front. I am loving it and Hubby loves it too! Thank you again to Melissa Corry at happyquiltingmelissa.blogspot.com. I had so much fun. My Mom wants one now!

I am onto other quilts now - thanks Chantae at Wood N Grommet! Just what I need, another hobby :)

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Keep smiling!

Star Surround Layers

Hello World! Today is Friday 9/13/13 - good thing I am NOT superstitious :)

I wanted to attach some new pictures of the Star Surround layering. I just want to say it is a very good thing we have a large living room. It also helps it isn't used too much.

Hubby had to help with laying and smoothing everything out. We were watching Duck Dynasty too! Love that show!

Now I am quilting the layers together on my sewing machine. It is not easy getting a 109" square through my machine. Lots of tugging, pulling, spinning, and of course grunting. But to be honest, I make more noises when Hubby is around - maybe he will get the hint for a bigger throated/neck machined?!

I am trying to get this finished for Melissa Corry's picture parade of Star Surround Quilts. Check it out at happyquiltingmelissa.blogspot.com

I have had so much fun with the quilt along - thank you Melissa!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday the 13th! Enjoy! And remember to smile. Make them wonder what you are up to!!!

Star Surround Finished Top

Hello World!

I know it has been a while. Hubby and I moved my sewing room downstairs so I am more spread out, sorta. Loving it! Max is still unsure, but he will get used to it. I think he doesn't like going up and down the stairs.

I have finished the Star Surround Quilt a Long top. It is huge! As I said before, I knew but didn't know how big this was going to be. I LOVE IT!! I love the colors - thank you hubby! It was fun to put together and quite easy. Now I am doing the backing. Sometimes I think the backing can be more difficult than the front. I don't want the back to be "boring"! Boring just isn't me :)

See, the back CAN'T be boring. No way! I will post pictures as I get my thoughts in line.

I have finished another quilt - 1 of my work in progress quilts. How is this for boring?!

This isn't me at all. I haven't take a pic of the FULL quilt. Better use your sunglasses. The back is a slight reflection of the front. I had fun with this one!

I hope you have enjoyed my new pictures. See ya soon!

Remember, smile! You are making someone's day.

Star Surround New Pics

Good Rainy Morning World.

If you don't love the humidity, you shouldn't live in Georgia. I can say that my rather normal acting hair takes on a life of its own during this high humidity. Gotta love it :)

Here are some new pictures of the Star Surround Quilt A Long progress.

Don't you just love those two piles up top? The third pile still has to be pinned together. It will be fun chain sewing ALL those pieces. The 2nd picture of what the sides and corners of each of my blocks will look like. This square is HUGE. I have 9 to make. This means XL King size quilt?

No sewing tonight, but I will pick up again tomorrow night. Loving it as always!! Thank you Melissa Corry at Happy Quilting Melissa!

Until next time, keep smiling! It will always make them wonder what you are doing!

New Week

Good Morning World! It has been cloudy and raining all weekend here is Georgia. Good time to get some sewing projects finished. Or in my case, getting my hubby to work on the basement.

It was easy enough, I just started re-organizing my sewing room. This spurred him to start cleaning up his mess in the basement. We are moving my sewing room to the basement so we will have a bedroom for guests.

Thank you Hermis!!

I started working on my Moo Mama product/project labels. I have tried using ribbon and transferring a logo to it. No success there. But I may have been using the wrong ribbon? I read a piece about using muslin and writing on it. Then attaching it to the backside of the quilt. Hmmm. I have some quilt squares that I am not liking for a quilt, so why not use those for my muslin labels. Might work. So I get creative and try my hand at this. Not too bad for a start.
I think a little more planning and it will work. But knowing me, this will always be a work in progress. I will keep tweaking it forever.....

Still working my quilt-a-long Star Surround. Now, looking at the colors, I should have changed it around, but I am not done. I still have a very pretty aqua color that is the surround fabric. I am not making any judgments until it done.
So that is all going on the world of Moo Mama.
Ideas are always welcome. Until next time, keep smiling and making them wonder what you are up to!!!

Love ya,

Moo Mama

The Beginning

Good Morning World! This is my attempt at blogging and I am excited. Not sure that people will want to know what is up in my little world, but why not. I can share my ideas and pictures of stuff I am creating or testing out.

I have been sewing on and off for the better part of my life. Last year my daughter started her own online sewing business. +Wood N Grommet  She has had great success with it. After asking her about it, she created Moo Mama Boutique for me. So off to the online world I go.

I have made quite a few things for kids. I have toddler hats, bibs, burp rags, burp pads, crayon roll ups, wet bags, and other things. I try to make things I wish I had for my two kids when they were smaller. Chantae has been a big help with suggestions to what to make and try to sell. Sarah's kids along with Chantae's boys are great testers for me!

I have always had the quilting bug, but never really tired it because I thought I couldn't do it. Surely I am not that creative to accomplish these beautiful quilts I see. Oh yes I am! I have actually put together and finished two quilts. One was given to my only granddaughter, Skyla. Once I made the top, I knew it was "her". From all accounts she loves it.

I have one that I am quilting together now. It is an Irish Chain pattern. I used bright green and purple with a strip of chocolate brown. My Mom calls it the decorated cake, so that is what I will name it once it is done.

There are two tops and two matching backs ready to quilt together. I have another quilt top for our bed ready but the back is proving to be more of a challenge than I had expected.

I have two quilts in the piecing process. One is through a quilt-a-long with Melissa at Happy Quilting. The other is from a magazine pattern.

So I am trying to keep myself busy with sewing and then I decide to start a blog. I will try to share pictures of stuff and I make it. My husband is great with his support of my sewing and ideas. He is a wonderful sounding board. He has helped me out many times when I have been stuck. Thank you Hermis.

Thanks and have a wonderfully awesome day! Smile and make someone's day.
